Cacao - Super Food

CACAO BEANS  (Theobroma Cacao)  Means Food of the Gods.

Cacao or chocolate bean dates back more than 4000 years. The Mayan civilization so prized the cacao bean it was used as their form of currency. Cacao contains an unbelievable 621 antioxidants, no other food source compares.
Antioxidants are extremely important in combating disease. They are phenolic substances in our food which have a protective effect on our bodies. They protect DNA by scavenging the free radicals that cause irreparable illness.
Free radicals are the by-product of oxygen use in our cells. Antioxidants remove the free radicals and prevent and repair the damage done by them. The protective effects of antioxidants encompass diseases most common to us like: Cancer: Diabetes: Macular degeneration: Heart disease and premature aging. Phenolic compounds in Cacao and other plants and vegetables protect not only us but also protect themselves from insect attack and disease.
Unfortunately studies show that when chocolate is combined with dairy products the antioxidant benefits are blocked and absorption is lost. Cacao contains the highest level of Magnesium which is chronically deficient in Australian soil and lacking in an alarming degree in most Australians people. Magnesium aids absorption of calcium assisting teeth and bone maintenance. It is great for heart function, rhythm, lowering blood pressure and increases the blood vessels ability to dilate preventing abnormal clotting. Magnesium aids healthy muscles function and cramp prevention.
Raw cacao has been proven to be effective in promoting mental well being, through the production of endorphins, raise Serotonin levels, and act as an anti-depressant. This super food ranks the highest in ORAC levels and is a major source of amino acids, protein, and most essential minerals.
